Israel Has Embarrassed Itself In Lebanon, Too

Nasrallah was NOT hiding; Hezbollah is better off than you’d think

--

Everyone knew what was coming

In the wake of the recent pager massacre, Israel has kept busy martyring specific, high-ranking Hezbollah leaders and commanders, including Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, by dropping massive explosives courtesy of its rich Uncle Sam and reducing entire neighborhoods to rubble in the process.

While it’s tempting to read these decapitation air-raids as evidence of incompetent Lebanese opsec and/or superhuman Israeli intel and tradecraft, bear in mind that the Hezbollah leadership circulate among the populace, whom they represent in government. Their locations are more or less known to the public, or at least guessable.

These men were not hiding. They were easy targets by design: they enjoy taunting the Israelis and Americans. They walk the walk.

Unlike most Christians and Jews, the children of Ismail actually believe in God. They talk about Him as if He was standing five feet away — something I’ve always loved. Such people are unafraid to die. Assassinations can’t do worse than put a few temporary dents in the resistance. Hezbollah will certainly have contingency plans several layers deep to cope with this foreseeable event.

One lesson history teaches us about carpet bombing is that it tends to stiffen resolve among the victims rather than break it. The assassination spree is an IDF tactical victory that’s collapsing into a strategic calamity thanks to the customary, demonic ratio of civilian casualties to targets down, by which means the Zionist entity repeatedly distinguishes itself as the nearest thing to 1940’s Germany the world has seen this century.

Israel puts tremendous effort into frightening, intimidating, and shocking its victims and neighbors. Explosive gizmos, brazen assassinations, razing entire towns: it’s not called a terrorist state for nothing. But let’s not forget that state terrorism always conceals weakness, uncertainty, and fear. All bullies are cowards. There are no exceptions. They beat their chests hoping they won’t have to raise their fists. The IDF army has exhibited only weakness, cowardice, and amateurism in Gaza, as I’ve pointed out repeatedly. It will do so again in Lebanon, with even worse results. Assuming it dares to invade without American backup.

I suppose that’s the wild card: lingering American resentment over the 1983 Beirut barracks bombings could make a joint operation in Lebanon look tempting, especially to a US Congress that voluntarily — no, eagerly — bends over and spreads for Netanyahu, and a mental vegetable serving as CinC while suffering from senile agitation.

Pleasant dreams.
